Additional Training Opportunities
The Chief Seattle Training Team strives to provide opportunities to training year round and throughout the the council area. Aiming to bring the most needed courses and the highest quality instruction in a variety of ways.
The position trained requirements are set forth by Scouting America, however the additional coursework offered may provide you the best trajectory for your Scouting position or journey as a Scouter.

Seabadge Training
Date: September 18th – 20th, 2026
Time: Start time 4:00 PM Friday to 4:00 PM Sunday

Seabadge is an intense leadership and management training focused on the “how-to” aspects of managing a successful youth-led Sea Scout program. While Seabadge was developed as an advanced leadership training program for experienced Sea Scout adult leaders, the course is open to all adult Scout leaders. The driving theme for the training is to “Focus on Youth”, which makes the course especially valuable for any Scout leader dealing with older youth. Seabadge does not cover topics like boating, knots, or other program-related materials found in the Sea Scout Manual.
Fundamentals of Training Parts 1 and 2
Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026
Time: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Location: Chief Seattle Council Service Center
Cost: $10
Part 1: Science of Training. This course is designed to help Scouts and Scouters, regardless of their training experience, identify effective training methods for a variety of purposes. It will also help freshen up the skills of current Scouting America trainers.
Part 2: Craft of Training. As trainers develop their training skills, this course provides an opportunity for trainers to practice and refine their abilities through experiential learning, paired with feedback from faculty members and peers.
*Both parts are required training for all Council trainers, including all Wood Badge and NYLT staff.
