Law Merit Badge Day – 10 April 2026

Where: Kent Police Department & Maleng Regional Justice Center on 4/10/26
When: Friday, April 10, 2026, Start/End Time/Place TBD in downtown Kent
Who: Scouts age 13 or above:

1. Attend the Mt. Tahoma District Merit Badge Clinic for the Law merit badge on March 21,
2026, Chief Seattle Council – Mt Tahoma District Spring 2026 Merit Badge Clinic
AND

2. Play video games on https://ed.icivics.org/ Home | iCivics
These games are available in English and Spanish (click on to select
your language option). You do not have to set up an account to play the games. Games
are in segments.

  1. Select the Play & Learn tab on the top right
  2. Scroll down to Argument Wars and start the game
    a. Select & play Brown v. Board of Education,
    b. Select & play Gideon v. Wainright, and
    c. Select & play Miranda v. Arizona.
    d. Scroll further and play Do I Have a Right? AND
    e. Play at least one other iCivics video game of your choice

What:

Interact with lawyers, judges, court clerks & law enforcement
See the county courthouse in action
Learn about the legal profession
Tour & learn from the Kent Police Department
Event may be a Job Shadow Day for your high school

Bring:

Your questions
Day pack with: Sack lunch, snacks and water bottle
Law Merit Badge workbook & filled-out Blue Card
Note-taking system that works for you whether you are standing, sitting (without a desk) or walking.

Know/No:

No pocket knives or weapons of any kind
No opportunity to purchase food/drink
No possibility to charge electronic devices
Cell phones must be turned OFF (not just silenced)
Attendance all day is required for Blue Card signoff
Attendance on April 10th is not a requirement to earn the Law merit Badge
Some April 10th activities are not Law merit badge requirements
We will walk outside for ½ mile once or twice


Wearing Class A Scout shirt is mandatory

(see link above); Attendance at the Clinic’s Law Merit Badge class is required to
participate in the 4/10/26 courthouse event.
