Additional Needs Scouting

TROOP 419 offers an opportunity for Adventure. Friendship. Belonging.

This inclusive Scout troop for neurodiverse youth and young adults throughout greater King County provides additional support to help Scouts reach their goals and enjoy the Scouting experience with their partner member.

Scouting is for Everyone: Scouts of All Abilities
At Troop 419, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to experience the fun, friendship, and character-building power of Scouting. Whether a Scout has physical disabilities, neurodivergence, medical conditions, or unique learning and styles, there is a place for them in our circle.

How We Support Your Scout
  • Adapted Advancement Tracks: Every Scout can achieve their goals. We utilize official Individual Scout Advancement Plans to modify rank and merit badge requirements, ensuring challenges are fair, achievable, and meaningful.
  • Accessible Outings: From weekly meetings to summer camp, we actively work to adapt activities and adventure trips to match the physical and sensory needs of our youth.
  • Trained Leadership: Our adult leaders are dedicated to inclusive coaching, learning how to best support your Scout’s specific needs
  • Extended Eligibility: For Scout’s with permanent developmental or physical disabilities, Scouting doesn’t end at 18. We support registration beyond the standard age limits so they can continue to grow at their own pace.
Let’s Adventure Together
We know that you are the expert on your child. Before your first meeting or campout, our leadership team will sit down with you to understand your Scout’s strengths, boundaries, and required accommodations.
Your Scout won’t just be accommodated here—they will be a valued, contributing member of our Troop.
