National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)
National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is a leadership training experience sponsored by the Chief Seattle Council and held annually at a council camp. The training is conducted by highly qualified youth staff under the supervision of adult advisors.
NYLT is like Wood Badge for youth. It is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide youth members with leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home units, personal lives, and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
The course models a month in the life of a unit. The training consists of six days of Scout activities culminating in an overnight outpost camp. It is an exciting combination of classroom and fun outdoor activities providing a challenging and rewarding learning experience.
Participants cook meals and work in their teams throughout the course. Teams are composed of diverse participants in order to promote individuals making new friends and learning about others.
NYLT is for Scouts, Venturers, Sea Scouts, and Explorers. All courses are coed, participants will be placed in patrols of the same gender.
Requirements for attending NYLT can be found on the National Scouting America website HERE
Cost: $350 for youth participants, $85 for staff
* Camperships are available to assist Chief Seattle Council Scouts with the cost of NYLT! You’ll be able to apply when you register online.
