Step #3.  Now that you downloaded the Eagle scout checklist (above) it will ask you to review if the Eagle requirements 1-6 are completed.

Go to My Dashboard, Scroll down to Reports, select “Eagle Application”.  A new tab will open to download the Eagle application form. 

Once Downloaded, Open this file.

This file will reflect the dates and achievements you have completed thus far on your trail to Eagle.

Halfway down page 1, in red, is where Requirement 1 begins.    Review all 6 of the requirements. 

For this whole form, If any of the dates are not pre-populated then your unit advancement chair needs to record the completion date.  Please work with your unit’s advancement chair to provide any documentation they need.

Under Requirement #2 There is not going to be a pre-population of your references.  It is your choice who your references are.  Select five (5) people that you want to be your references. six(6) if you have a job.  The Religious representative can be anyone at your institution or if not affiliated with an organized religion, then the parent or guardian provides this reference.

Step #4.  Return to the Check sheet above. You should now be on the 3rd box. 

Prepare your letters.  This means you can either ask people for references by explaining the process to them or you can download this form, Fill in page 2, and then print it 5 five times (6) six if you have a job. Put the two pages inside an envelope that has a valid stamp and either Rojohn’s or Jim’s addresses on the front and then hand them to packet.  You should end up with five (5) envelopes with 2 pages per (6) six if you have a job.

There are several parts to the Project workbook. At this point you are only concerned with the first presented page.  Enter your full legal name on the first line. Then enter what you think the name of your project will be on the 2nd line.

Review with your parents the first part of the package up to the “Proposal” which starts on page “A”.  this is where you will gain the information of what to expect just like you gained when you were doing your merit badges.  The rules of being an Eagle Scout Project Manager are within.  You are leading the performance not being the performer for your Eagle Project. There are a lot of rules you have to be aware of.  There are a lot of things you would like to take shortcuts with. We know this. Please review this first part with your parents.

Step #6 The Project Proposal. On your check sheet from above you should now be on box 4.  

There are 5 tests for your proposal to consider. 

If you would like to have a Coach you have this option. Your Unit Committee Chair or Advancement Chair can help you locate a district approved Coach.  Carl is the Coach trainer for our territory.

Your proposal must be prepared first.   

The project proposal is the second section of the Eagle Project Workbook. The pages are alphabetically numbered.

Take page B to your next unit meeting to work with your unit Advancement Chair or their representative or a Coach to complete pages B – G.  These pages are intended to be a best guess expectation.  

• It is designed to be an overview, but also the beginnings of planning. It must show your unit leader, unit committee, and council or district that your project can meet the following tests.
  1. It provides sufficient opportunity to meet the Eagle Scout service project requirement. You must show that
  planning, development, and leadership will take place; and how the three factors will benefit a religious institution, a
  school, or your community.
  2. It appears to be feasible. You must show the project is realistic for you to carry out.
  3. Safety issues will be addressed. You must show you have an understanding of what must be done to guard
  against injury, and what will be done if someone gets hurt.
  4. Action steps for further detailed planning are included. You must make a list of the key steps you will take to
  make sure your plan will have enough details so it can be carried out successfully.
  5. You are on the right track with a reasonable chance for a positive experience.

Once you have completed this meeting and have fulfilled what you think are the 5 tests.  Schedule with your Eagle coach a review of your proposal and then contact either Jim or Carl for the District approval at the bottom of page “B”.  Expectation here is that you will submit the Project Proposal to Carl Olson or Jim Sherwood for review. They will reach back out to you to discuss any issues or concerns. Once you have the approval to proceed you may now move on to Step #7.

Step #7   You should now be on the Check sheet above on box 6. Once you have your project proposal completed you may now begin your project. It is encouraged you start with your fundraising as that is the next long lead portion.  Follow through the Check sheet and the Eagle Project Project Workbook until your project is complete.

When you have completed all the requirements for Eagle Scout (except for the final Board of Review), drop the completed Eagle Scout Rank Application and completed Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook at the following locations. Send an email immediately upon dropping it off to the Eagle Advancement coordinator.
